Lot 401:
Series of six panels representing the 12 apostles, originally acquired in Spain at the end of the 19th century. Between 1860 and 1875 and acquired in Paris by the important Parisian collector Alphonse Kahn. Later sold to the Campbell Collection (United States) around 1920 and 1930 and studied by Professor Chandler R. Post of Harvard University, this set could have been part of the courtroom of Granada Cathedral and dated to the end of of the fifteenth century. Provenance: Former Alphonse Kahn Collection, Paris; Sarah Campbell Blaffer Collection, United States; owned by an important North American collector based in Spain. Measurements (each): 84 x 40 cm
