The band is a triple twisted rope form with granules and bead work upon the shoulders, typical of the 3rd to 4th Centuries AD. The patina is a deep yellow hue, demonstrating the high carat of gold, at least 18 carat. For a similar example see the collection of the British Museum, nº 1869,0324.1. And a closely related ring can be found in the Aquincum Museum, Budapest, nº 51464. Intaglio measures: 1.4 x 1.1 cm. Ring circumference: 48 mm (oval).
