GRAND SPRING AUCTION OF PRIVATE COLLECTIONS, LATIN AMERICAN ART AND FINE WATCHES
Lot 540:
Oil on canvas. Measurements: 97 x 147 cm framed. Federico Beltrán Masses (1885-1949) was a Spanish painter born in Güira de la Melena, Cuba. His father was a Spanish soldier and part of his maternal family was Cuban. Federico Beltran Masses can be placed between Art Deco and Symbolism, with some traditional roots in his early days. It is in the portrait where the painter mostly develops his work. He evokes and recreates his protagonists, seeking the beauty and the best in each person. He seeks for them fantasy, memory, allegory, the exotic, his dreams… it reflects the spirit and philosophy of life of the person portrayed. Beltran Masses does not seek to paint reality.
