Oil on canvas, relined. This work captures, on a clearly classical landscape following the baroque tradition, a dramatic scene that takes place between the dramatic events that occurred during the Spanish War of Independence between 1808 and 1814. “Both because of the theme and because of the formal characteristics, this work to Juan Gálvez, who became court painter to Fernando VII and director of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando”. Juan Gálvez is currently represented in the Prado Museum and in the Romanticism Museum in Madrid, among others. Measurements: 31 x 41 cm.
