Lote 18:
Oil on canvas, framed measurements: 89 X 79, canvas measurements: 73 X 61 cm. Between the 17th and 18th centuries, it was very common to dress the most venerated images with garments adorned with precious stones and jewels, in order to respect and update them at the same time, in addition to highlighting them and adding the richness that their ‘rank’ of Sacred Image requires. Being venerated since the year 1200, it is known as one of the oldest Marian invocations, made of wood and completely covered in silver except for the head and hands. Being venerated since the time of Alfonso X the Wise, continues Setdart, she was enthroned around 1226, highlighting her even more Isabella the Catholic. During the first half of the 17th century, her own chapel was built through the mediation of Gaspar de Quiroga and finished by Bernardo de Sandoval, whose consecration was presided over by Felipe III in 1616.
