Oil on panel, measurements: 46 x 38 cm, framed measurements: 63 x 55 cm. Francesc Galofre Oller (Valls, July 13, 1864-Barcelona, ​​January 8, 1942) was a Catalan painter. Taken to Barcelona as a child, he attended the Borrell Academy and later the School of Fine Arts, with Antonio Caba. He furthers his studies at the School of the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. Since 1888 he participated in the exhibitions in Madrid, where he was awarded several honorable mentions and second and third class medals, and those in Barcelona at the Universal Exhibition with honorable mention. His workshop was located on Ample street above the premises of the Lo Niu guerrer society, being a small studio illuminated by a single skylight. A friend of the painters Cayo Zunzarren and Remigi Cid Armengol as well as of the sculptor Enric Clarasó, he was also the father of the painter Francesc Galofre i Suris. His most important and well-known work is Bòria Avall, a representation of a punishment by whipping in the 17th century, which is on display in the Valls Museum. This work was finished after two years of work for the 1892 National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Madrid.
