An agate intaglio pendant depicting Cupid bearing a flaming torch. The fragmentary intaglio is carved with a blazing sun above a figure of Cupid bearing the flaming torch, representing burning passion. Mounted in a modern, gold pendant setting with a cabochon sapphire and cultured pearl drop. There is a similar intaglio of the same date in the collection of the Museo degli Argenti, Pitti Palace, Florence; Inv. Gemme del 1921, n. 1758, Photo: GPSSPMF 297417. Intaglio measures: 3.2 x 2.7 cm. Pendant measures: 6.3 cm high including cultured pearl drop.
