The Battle of Kahlenberg or Second Siege of Vienna, took place at the gates of the city of Vienna on September 11 and 12, 1683, after two months of siege by troops of the Ottoman Empire. The battle was fought on Kahlenberg Mountain, between the combined forces of the Holy Roman Empire and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (Holy League) against the Ottoman Empire and its European allies.
