Extremely rare late 18th century South American work, Mexican silver work. With a cordoned silver band around the flared, turned muzzle, the front parts polygonal and inlaid with silver fronds, octagonal breeches with silver foliage on the flats on each side, a broad silver band on the back, foliage-engraved spikes, characteristic Fluted-mount locks below the tray enclosing the steel spring, solid stocks inlaid with silver panels secured with silver pins and pierced and etched with foliage inhabited by monsters, birds, and a pair of rabbits, the last facing the trigger guards, and studded with additional silver pins.
