Possibly born in the French city of Joigny, to which his surname seems to refer, he settled in Spain around 1533, attracted by the important artistic activity that took place in the kingdom of Castile and here he carried out production of such high quality. who goes on to become, together with Berruguete, the pinnacle figure of Spanish flamenco mannerism.
