In fine wearable, uncleaned, excavated condition. The bezel carved in the form of a lombardic letter ’S’. This kind of rings were used in personal Catholic prayer in a similar fashion to Rosarys with each projection representing a Hail Mary. With an accompanying old collectors note reading ‘14TH CENTURY SILVER RING FOUND IN SALISBURY’. For a similar example see; A. B. Chadour, Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch collection, Leeds, 1994, vol. 1, p. 177, no. 581. Another example in Bronze can be found in the collection of the British Museum, London, Accession Number: 775-1871. Ring circumference: 52,5 mm.
